Ecological Significance/Pollinators: verbena moth (host), the Nebraska Vervain Calliopsis Bee (specialist), flower flies (Syrphidae), bee flies, sweat bees, green sweat bees, small carpenter bees, bumble bees, long-horned bees, leafcutter bees, mining bees, and the silver spotted skipper, flood tolerant and can be used for stream bank stabilization 

Spreading Habit: Height 2-6', Spread 1-2.5'; rhizomatous roots that slowly spread to produce clonal colonies, establishes quickly in disturbed wetlands

Seed Provence: Original collection: South Kingston, RI. (Grown out: Aquidneck Land Trust, Middletown, RI

Habitat: Marshes, meadows and fields, shores of rivers and lakes, wetland margins (Wetland Code FACW)
