Moisture: Moist to dry soil

Bloom Time in RI: August to September 

Ecological Significance/Pollinators: denticulate longhorn bee, wavy-lined emerald moth, and the Parthenice tiger moth

Spreading Habit: Height 4-7', 3-4'; fast-growing and fast-spreading through short, thick rhizomes and readily by seed

Seed Provence: Original ecotype collected in Redding, CT. Grown out at The Hickories in Ridgefield, CT and Hilltop Hanover in Yorktown Heights, NY.

Habitat: Meadows and fields, shores or rivers or lakes (Wetland Code FACW)
