Blooming from May to June, Packera obovata prefers part shade to shade and moist soils.     It is a rapid groundcover2' above-ground spread, it provides early-spring habitat for queen bumblebees, early mining bees, Northern Metalmark butterflies, and ground beetles. It is a rapid groundcover that spreads above-ground by stolons and self-seeding.
